We are delighted to continue our partnership with Monzo, to support local under-funded schools. Monzo is a leading UK online bank on a mission to make money work for everyone.
Continuing to support local communities
We first teamed up with Monzo in June 2021 and they donated a surplus of their devices to support the local community. Since June, we have made sure that these donations are shared with schools that have trouble accessing the right funding or the right technology. Supporting under-funded schools is a key part of our work, through our Project Spark initiative.
Hackney is an area local to both Monzo and ourselves and has one of the highest rates of economic disadvantage of any London borough. Many schools here need additional tech devices to improve their students' access to lessons, support homework needs and provide students with key digital skills for the future.
Improving learning environments
On 21 October 2021, we were able to facilitate a donation of laptops and screen monitors from Monzo to Haggerston School.
Haggerston School is a mixed 11-18 community school in Hackney that prides itself on academic rigour and high expectations for every child. The school nurtures students' individual talents and abilities, to enable every child to realise their potential.
The students were excited to start using the devices and maximise their digital learning.
The donated devices help with lessons in Design & Technology and Music, enabling students to maximise learning in these subjects, develop creative skills and take advantage of useful software. This not only increases engagement in these lessons but also helps to improve attainment.
Equipping for the future
Our mission is to help to create an equal start line for young people, so that no one is left behind.
Donations such as these help to improve learning environments and equip the next generation with digital skills for success.
This is the second school that has received support through our partnership with Monzo and we look forward to supporting more students in future.
