Supporting mathematics at Mulberry School for Girls

Removing barriers to education is what we're all about. We're proud to have been supporting schools with tech donations since we started out in 2020 and it was great to continue by donating scientific calculators to Mulberry School for Girls in December 2023.

As schools prepared to close their doors for the Christmas break, students at Mulberry School for Girls in Tower Hamlets, London opened a gift box of calculators. This will help their studies in 2024 and beyond. These devices are a vital part of mathematics lessons and are often needed in exams.

"Our young people were happy to receive this generous donation from Open Palm. This equipment will help with to better understand mathematics and will be a useful tool for completing homework." - Bablu, Mulberry School for Girls partner Trapped in Zone One

Many schools across the UK do not have sufficient tech devices to meet their students' needs. This particularly impacts students from disadvantaged backgrounds who may not be able to access devices privately. Our Project Spark focuses on London boroughs, such as Tower Hamlets, with a high concentration of economic disadvantage relative to the UK average.

We're thrilled to have helped 2950 students through Project Spark so far, to access the tech they need. As a result, students can better engage with their lessons and homework, and have the right devices on hand during exams and assessments.

This marked our first direct donation in which we were able to fully fund the devices. However to support as many students as possible, we rely on our partners who kindly donate surplus tech. If your organisation is interested in donating unused or surplus tech to benefit a school, please email us: info@openpalm.org.uk
